Who Is Sitting Above Your Heavens?
In the same way that there are thrones in the heavens, there are also angelic beings called "thrones"—not just seats, but actual living entities. We call them “angels” for lack of a better word, but they are unique in their function. Thrones are celestial beings assigned over territories, yet they themselves do not govern directly. Instead, they yield authority to others—most often to princes or principalities.
🕊️ Thrones Yield Authority
Take for example Babylon. There was a throne (a spiritual entity) over the land, but the Prince of Persia was allowed to sit upon it. When he sat on that throne, he gained jurisdiction over the domain. When you look at the Prince of Persia, while he sat on the throne, he gave authority to individuals like Cyrus, who ruled over Persia. What’s strange is that although God anointed Cyrus (Isaiah 45:1), the angelic being that walked with him was not necessarily a godly angel. This mirrors the incident in 1 Kings 22:19–23, where a lying spirit entered the mouths of the prophets to fulfill a divine purpose. In the same way, the Prince of Persia—though not aligned with God—was used to influence Cyrus and grant him dominion in Babylon. This shows that angelic beings can be assigned to walk with individuals, but not all of them are righteous or from God. Genesis 6:1–4 reveals how the “sons of God” (commonly understood as watchers) interacted with the daughters of men, implying that there were beings watching over mankind who were not necessarily holy. These watchers had influence over human affairs, even when their origin or intent was corrupted. Therefore, in the kingdom realm, authority doesn't come from personal power alone, but from the spiritual beings—whether divine or fallen—that walk with a person and are assigned over their life.
Colossians 1:16 (NKJV)
"For by Him all things were created... whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers..."
There are many types of heavenly hierarchies: thrones, dominions, principalities, powers, rulers, and hosts. These aren't poetic terms—they describe real ranks in the spiritual realm.
🔥 The Living Throne of God
The throne of God itself is a living being. It is not just a seat but a mobile, alive, and powerful presence.
Ezekiel 1:26-28 gives a vivid picture of this throne, surrounded by the cherubim and glory of God.
Also, Revelation 4:6-8 describes a throne encircled by four living creatures full of eyes, declaring His holiness.
This shows that heavenly thrones are spiritual beings that carry both divine presence and positional authority.
🔓 How Prayer Affects the Heavenlies
Daniel’s life gives us a profound example of how a person on earth can shift the atmosphere in the heavens. Daniel was praying from a place of covenant. Because he lived on earth—where man has been given dominion—his prayers provoked angelic movement. Just like Daniel's prayer, which provoked changes in the heavens (Daniel 10:12–13), we must understand that authority and success in life are not determined by how hard you work, but by who is seated on the throne above you. Life is spiritual (John 6:63; Ephesians 6:12), and those who have true authority in the spirit realm are the ones who function most effectively and experience the greatest success in the natural. The throne above your life—whether occupied by a godly or ungodly being—has a direct impact on your outcomes. This is why spiritual alignment, covenant, and heavenly representation matter more than mere human effort.
Daniel 10:12-13 (NLT)
"Since the first day you began to pray... your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. But for 21 days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way..."
Because of Daniel’s intercession, the angelic hosts assigned to Israel could not enter the territory until the prince in that region was dealt with. Your prayers can displace princes—rulers over cities, families, and systems.
👁️ Heavenly Authority Governs Earthly Events
What happens in the spirit realm governs what manifests in the natural realm. Nebuchadnezzar learned this when the watchers and holy ones from the spiritual realm judged him.
Daniel 4:17 (KJV)
“This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men…”
He lost his mind for seven years, not by human will, but by the decree of heaven. Spiritual hierarchies and thrones affect nations, kings, and families.
🛑 Deliverance Is Incomplete Without Empowerment
Many believers have experienced deliverance, yet their heavens remain ungoverned—or worse, governed by the wrong spiritual authorities. We cast out demons but fail to enthrone God’s angelic agents.
Matthew 12:43-45 (NLT)
“When an evil spirit leaves a person... it returns and finds its former home empty... and the final condition is worse...”
Deliverance without replacement is an open invitation to spiritual relapse. Thrones must be re-occupied with righteous beings.
👑 Thrones in Families and Communities
Families have thrones—altars or spiritual seats of governance. Sometimes, demonic agents sit on these thrones, ruling over families through patterns of addiction, poverty, or premature death.
But believers have the right to dethrone demonic occupants and invite God’s representatives into those positions.
Psalm 103:20-21 (KJV)
“Bless the Lord, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments... ye ministers of His, that do His pleasure.”
Just as Michael represents Israel (Daniel 10:21), your family can have an angelic representative.
🙏 How to Pray
In this season, begin to pray prayers that don’t just remove demons, but establish governance:
🔑 Prayer Points
“Father, open my eyes to see who is in authority over my family, my city, and my region.”
(2 Kings 6:17 – “Open his eyes that he may see…”)“Lord, every demonic agent sitting on any throne in my bloodline—be dethroned in Jesus’ name.”
(Luke 10:19 – “I give you authority… over all the power of the enemy…”)“God, assign your holy angels to sit over my family, my ministry, and my community.”
(Hebrews 1:14 – “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”)“Lord, establish your rule and your dominion in the heavens over me.”
(Matthew 6:10 – “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”)
🌌 Final Thought
The heavens above you are never empty. The question is: who is seated above your heavens?
Every believer has the power through covenant and prayer to shift the spiritual atmosphere. Just like Daniel, your intercession can provoke angelic movement, dethrone dark princes, and establish divine order.
