Thou Wilt Keep Him in Perfect Peace

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isaiah 26:3). The words “peace” and “rest” seem closely related although they are different. One cannot achieve rest without peace. There is a certain life you can never achieve without having this peace. But how does one gain this peace this peace is not given to everyone—it is for the one whose mind is stayed on Him. Trust is the key. When a man trusts God, that trust is expressed in obedience. Trust plants one in a life of prosperity. It produces stability in one’s life.

When Solomon reigned, he reigned in peace. And because of this peace, the land flourished. Wealth increased. The people prospered. It was during that time the great temple was built. Why? Because peace creates an environment where things can be established. Conflict, on the other hand, halts progress. You cannot build when there is war. You cannot plant when the sword is raised. So how then can we walk in peace when , we look around us and all we see are demonic attacks and constant attacks from the devil?

The answer lies in looking closely at the life of Solomon. Solomon enjoyed peace because David fought wars before him. David subdued the enemies. He laid the foundation of victory, and Solomon walked in the fruit of that labor. Likewise, we walk in peace because Christ has already fought the battle for us. The war was real and the price was His blood. But now, for those who believe, there is an inheritance of peace.

But not everyone walks in this peace. Though Jesus has given it, many do not experience it. Why? Because they do not trust in Him. The promise is clear: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.” Another version says, “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You.” There is a mindset that grants access to peace. And many believers are locked out—not because God has denied them, but because their minds are not stayed on Him.

Hebrews 4:11 says, “Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest…” There is a labor that leads to rest. Not a labor of works, but a labor of identity. Many fight because they do not know who they are. They believe the lies of the enemy. They are governed by the wrong report. They walk in fear, not faith. They react to the voice of the serpent (deception and lies ) rather than rest in the voice of the Shepherd.

Peace means well-being. It means completeness. Colossians 2:10 tells us, “You are complete in Him.” If you are in Christ, you are whole. But that completeness is only accessed when your mind is governed by truth. You must guard your mind. You must set it on things above.

There is a word, shalem, found in 1 Kings 8:61, which says, “Let your heart therefore be perfect (shalem) with the Lord our God…” That word speaks of being whole, perfect, complete. That is the heart posture God desires. A heart fully aligned. A heart stayed. A heart that trusts. Many procrastinate and feel uncertain about life, but those who trust stand firm and confident.

But how do you stay your mind on God? You ask. You pray. You submit. You fast. And that is what we are doing even now. As we are in our third day of prayer and fasting, our cry is simple: “Father, help me to keep my mind stayed on You. Anchor me. Center me. Align me.” Because peace is a place. It is a dwelling. It is not a feeling, it is a location. “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).

Peace has a name. His name is Jesus. And when you dwell in Him, you find rest. When you trust Him, you are kept. The cross is our victory. The blood is our access. And the mind of Christ is our compass. So today we pray: “Father, help me to recognize what was done for me on the cross. Help me to walk in peace. Help me to enter into rest. Help me to silence every false report, every lying voice, and every deception of the enemy.”

Many are bound not because they should be bound, but because they do not know who they are. Many are fighting not because there is still a battle to be fought, but because they have not yet come into the knowledge of their inheritance. May your mind be stayed on Him. May your heart be perfect before Him. And may you dwell in perfect peace.

In Jesus’ name.
