HEARING THEY HEAR NOT, SEEING THEY SEE NOT

“Hearing they hear not, and seeing they see not” (Matthew 13:13). This scripture reveals one of the deepest spiritual realities: a person can observe something with their physical eyes yet fail to perceive it with their spirit. They can hear words with their natural ears yet fail to understand what those words truly mean. Many people struggling under cycles of poverty, confusion, or stagnation are not only challenged externally—they are challenged internally. Their ability to perceive, interpret, and respond to situations is under spiritual attack. When perception becomes clouded, opportunities become invisible. When spiritual hearing is dull, direction becomes unclear.

The Bible describes a spiritual condition called slumber. Isaiah 29:10 says, “For the LORD has poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes.” This is not physical sleep—it is spiritual dullness. A person in this state walks through life as if dreaming. They see, but they do not discern. They hear, but they do not understand. They make decisions based on assumptions instead of revelation. Their thoughts become foggy, and their judgment becomes distorted. This is one of the enemy’s most effective strategies: he does not always attack by closing doors; he attacks by blinding the eyes that must recognize the doors.

Many opportunities are lost not because the opportunities were absent, but because the person’s perception was misaligned. A young lady may miss a genuine breakthrough because her opinion blinded her from seeing the value in what God was presenting. A young man may misjudge an open door because his mindset had already been shaped by past disappointment. People can walk past the very answer they prayed for and never know it was right there, because their perception was not healed.

This truth is clearly demonstrated by the children of Israel at the edge of the Promised Land. When the spies returned, they said, “We were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight” (Numbers 13:33). Their problem was not the giants in the land; their problem was the giants in their minds. Because they saw themselves incorrectly, they interpreted the situation incorrectly, and so they responded incorrectly. God delayed their entry into the promise—not to punish them, but to protect the promise from being lost. If they had entered with the wrong mindset, they would have mismanaged the blessing. So He allowed them to wander until a generation with the right perception could enter. Destiny and perception cannot be separated. The promise of God requires the mindset of God.

This same principle is at work in relationships and daily life. Many people lose destiny helpers because they listen to the wrong report about someone. Others misinterpret people’s intentions because their past wounds have shaped their perception. Some argue endlessly, not because the words are unclear, but because one person hears sound without understanding meaning. This is why Jesus repeatedly said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 11:15). Hearing is not just receiving sound—it is receiving understanding. Seeing is not just observing—it is discerning.

As we pray today, especially during this time of fasting and spiritual alignment, God is restoring clarity. He is opening your eyes to see what you previously misinterpreted. He is sharpening your ears to hear His voice without distortion. The fog that clouded your perception is lifting. You will begin to recognize opportunities, relationships, and paths that were once hidden. This is a season of awakening, divine clarity, and renewed understanding. Your steps will be ordered, your decisions will be aligned, and your perception will be healed.

Below are today’s prayer points:

1. Father, open my eyes that I may see correctly.
“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law” (Psalm 119:18).

2. Father, open my ears that I may hear correctly.
“He awakens my ear to hear as the learned” (Isaiah 50:4).

3. Father, renew my mind and give me the right perception.
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

4. Father, let my doors open and grant me the perception to recognize every divine opportunity.
“I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it” (Revelation 3:8).
